West Interlake Trading CompanyThe West Interlake Trading Company Inc. (WITC) is a non-profit organization run by volunteers with the vision to promote tourism, tourism-related business, and community services in the southwestern region of the Interlake.

Located just twenty minutes north of Winnipeg on Highway #6 in Warren, the WITC operates as a gateway to the West Interlake from Winnipeg and offers a variety of opportunities for local residents looking to promote themselves to outside markets.  At the same time, the WITC also functions to bring opportunities with outside organizations directly to the local community through their extensive network of contacts and helps local groups establish the appropriate skills and techniques they need to successfully fill their role in the community.

Preserving and Promoting Our Local History and Community Spirit

Aside from the business end, the WITC also offers an endless amount of support and initiative with regard to the preservation and promotion of the area’s local history and the community spirit, for which such small, rural towns are known.  By hosting a wide variety of unique and entertaining events throughout the year, the WITC helps to provide the glue that keeps our historic roots firmly attached to our prosperous future, as our communities build and evolve over time.

If you are new to the area, or simply visiting on your way through the Interlake, the WITC also offers customized group tour packages that include any of the many attractions in the RM of Woodlands as well as numerous others in the West Interlake.  These tours offer you a wonderful chance to take in the sights and sounds of the area, while breaking to indulge in some of the delicious aromas and local flavours provided by the area’s many dining establishments.

While you are exploring you should also check out the WITC’s elevator site to stroll down the boardwalk and marvel at the silent giant that keeps watch over the small prairie town.  If you are really impressed with site the WITC also offers the space for wedding rentals, family reunions, public gathering and community events of all shapes and sizes, so keep them in mind when planning your next big event!

Crafter's Connection

The WITC is also the “Crafter’s Connection” to the area, hosting a gigantic annual craft sale on the first weekend of November. Spanning multiple buildings and including a large variety and number of tables, this craft sale simply must be seen to be believed! Though if crafting isn’t your thing you can always enjoy some of the other classic community staples provided by the WITC, like pancake breakfasts, fundraising socials, and a variety of holiday-themed opportunities to get out of your house and catch up with your neighbours!
